29 Card Game bidding: read the version first

An app publisher’s tutorial provides one concrete example.

The Knight’s Cave example

Its tutorial describes counter-clockwise play, bidding after the initial four cards and a bid range of 16–28. The winning bidder chooses a concealed trump indicator before the remaining four cards are dealt.

Do not generalise a setting

A different table may use another minimum, order or passing procedure. Record those choices rather than assuming every game follows this tutorial.

A useful learning exercise

Before bidding practice, ask a partner to explain what a bid commits the team to achieve. Compare that explanation with the selected rules, then practise stating a number or passing clearly. This exercise does not prescribe an optimal bid.
